The whole point of choosing a garage lighting system is to illuminate the space. This is the most important factor. Traditionally, the brightness of a bulb was measured by how many watts it consumed. The higher the wattage meant more brightness. Nowadays, lumens and lux are used. So, what exactly are lumens and lux?
In simple terms, Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a lamp or light source. The higher the lumen rating the “brighter” the lamp will appear.
The lux (symbol: lx) is the SI derived unit of illuminance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. It is equal to one lumen per square metre. In photometry, this is used as a measure of the intensity, as perceived by the human eye, of light that hits or passes through a surface.
As for garage and workshop, where it requires more perception of details, shall be illuminated to 500 lux.
In order to let you know the qty of lights needed more clearly, we have made the following table as a reference.
The average illuminance of the space will be around 500lx, suitable for writing and work

2. Barrina 4ft T8 led integrated fixture
3. Barrina 8ft T8 led integrated fixture

How does the number of fixtures vary with ceiling height. I have a 30 ft X 50 ft shop with 16 ft ceiling height. How many fixtures would be required for this space?
